Ashley is a self-taught artist with a love for all things beautiful. She began creating arts of all kinds from a very young age and continues to do so, but focuses primarily on abstract art. She draws her inspiration from emotions, experiences and her environment then channels the way they make her feel onto a canvas. She loves the openness of abstract art and being able to see the connections people make to it before they know what a piece is about; or even better yet when someone is able to pull out themes of the piece’s true meaning or teaches her something about her own art in the process.
“As a person I have always been interested in creating, designing or imagining in many ways. Always doodling, coloring and building things as a child. Throughout high school I took visual arts, photography and textile classes and after graduation I even took makeup artistry classes. Creativity is a large part of my life. In the less obvious types of creating I also love architecture. Abstract has always been my favorite form of visual art, maybe because of the different ways it can effect everyone, maybe because it makes you think outside of the box or maybe because it is so free." |

"After trying a couple small paintings I wanted to move onto more, I bought some large canvas, but again waited, because of the fear of not being good enough. A month or so later, I finally gave it a try and it was eve better than before. When I am painting I am free to feel my emotions, whatever they may be and let them flow onto the canvas."

"Mostly I find inspiration through living life; being hurt, feeling love or facing your fears. Though I also love to be inspired by the world around me, there is so much beauty in nature, from the ocean floor to the top of the mountains all you have to do is look. My venture into the artistic world is relatively new, but since I have put my work out there, the support has been overwhelming. It is the craziest feeling to have someone love your painting as much as you have loved someone else's. To see the look in their eyes when they connect with it is unforgettable and being able to make someone happy like that cannot be replaced by anything."

"Aside from this, the coolest thing I have encountered has got to be people seeing your work and being able to pull out aspects of it that directly relate to your emotions while you were painting, especially when they are things you unconsciously put there and hadn't even realized were there.”
